Kissimmee Gateway Airport Director of Aviation Earns Professional Accreditation
Kissimmee, FL – March 6, 2008 – Kissimmee Gateway Airport (ISM) announced today that Terry Lloyd, director of aviation, has been awarded the distinction of Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) by the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).
To qualify for this distinction, Lloyd had to successfully complete three phases of the accreditation process: (1) pass a 180-item, multiple-choice examination, (2) fulfill a writing requirement and (3) demonstrate, in the final interview by a panel of A.A.E.s, his knowledge of airport management, business administration and general transportation economics. Lloyd’s achievement attests to his ability to meet these stringent requirements and his experience in managing a public airport. By fulfilling all the requirements leading to the title of Accredited Airport Executive, he joins a select group of individuals who have earned the designation within the last 50 years of the Accreditation Program’s existence. At present, fewer than 10 percent of AAAE’s members throughout the country have earned the distinction.
Lloyd joined the Kissimmee Gateway Airport in 2000 after completing a 22-year career with the U.S. Air Force in the airport management field. During his military career, he had numerous assignments throughout the United States, including Cocoa Beach and Avon Park, Fla., and also served in the United Kingdom, Korea and Honduras. Named U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Command Airport Manager of the Year in 1994, Lloyd has been a member of the AAAE since 1993, completed the Certified Member program in 1996 and received an M.B.A. from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2004.
