Increased Flight Activity Expected at Kissimmee Gateway Airport

Kissimmee, FL – October 3, 2006 –Kissimmee Gateway Airport (KGA) is expecting a high level of flight activity in and around the Kissimmee area on Saturday, October 14 through Friday, October 20 as a result of the National Business Aviation Association’s (NBAA) Annual Convention. The event, which will be held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando from October 17-19, is expected to draw a crowd of more than 30,000 pilots, media, and aviation-related businesses.

Due to the increase in flight activity, KGA’s control tower operation hours are as follows:

  • Friday, October 14 thru Wednesday, October 18 – normal control tower hours, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 19 – EXPANDED control tower hours, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Friday, October 20 – normal control tower hours, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“NBAA provides excellent exposure not only for the airport, but the Osceola County area as a whole,” said Terry Lloyd, KGA director of aviation. "This is a great opportunity to show off the area’s features and facilities and to promote our economic development.”

Based in Washington, NBAA is a not-for-profit, nonpartisan 501(c) 6 corporation dedicated to the success of the business aviation community. For more than 50 years, NBAA has represented the aviation interests of nearly 7,000 companies that own or operate general aviation aircraft. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion dollars – a number that is about half the U.S. gross domestic product – and employ more than 19 million people worldwide.
